I worked in a building where the HVAC contracter on a remodel of the area I was in had relied entirely on duct tape, not only to tape the ducts to seal them, as was appropriate at the time, but to mechanically hold them together. Less than 10 years later, the ducts were all coming apart. Whenever the heating/coooling in an office didn't seem to be right, one could pop a ceiling tile and find a cheet metal joint that had come loose.

You're right about that Walt. No one in the HVAC trades around here uses
the stuff that I'm aware of. I'm doubtful that it meets the codes.
