The Olympus Circle (OC) was mentioned on the list a while back, but I
haven't seen any mention of their publication, "Quest." I recently received
my second issue, and I think this is an endeavor worthy of support by Oly
users. These are the OC's stated goals, in their own words:

THE OLYMPUS CIRCLE: ASPIRATIONS
1. To be a source of information & advice to members interested in
acquiring, collecting or using any format of Olympus camera(s).
2. To promote general interest in the Olympus marque by research,
documentation & publication of results in the magazine Quest & by
photographic challenges, cameos & portfolios and competitions in all
formats.
3. To provide via this magazine, feature articles, historical and technical
exposes, advice about sourcing, collecting and using Olympus products and
provide access to any archive/research material held, handbooks, repair
manuals, lists of approved repairers, service centres and specialist
dealers. It will also facilitate access to any data held and reproduction
in Quest of any published information across the whole range of Olympus
products (with formal permission of Olympus Optical Co. Ltd., Japan.)

John Foster is the editor and produces the small-format magazine on his own
color laser printer. Two frequent list contributors, Mark Dapoz and Skip
Williams, are listed as "technical and historical advisors," along with Jaap
Korten and several others whose names aren't as familiar to me. The first
issue contained several tips, classifieds, a short write-up on the 8mm
Fisheye lens, an article on Olympus half-frame cameras, and the
"Centerpiece" article was on the development of the XA, with several color
illustrations. The second issue includes an article on Olympus lenses used
on non-Olympus cameras and the featured OM lens is the 16/3.5. The
Centerpiece article compares and contrasts the OM-1 and E-1 cameras. There
are quizzes and photo contests, too. And OC solicits article submissions
from members.

For those who are interested, I think Terry Hardy, the secretary, is the
person to contact at: thardy.2@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Best wishes to all during this holiday season.

Greg
