The collapsible hood is probably just fine. The hood built for it about 7/8
of an inch deep, including the flange that slips over the front part of the
barrel of the lens. I do have a personal preference for the hoods designed for
the lens rather than the generics and collapsible ones, however I'm sure they
block the sun just as well. The collapsible ones don't, however, protect the
front element as the rigid ones do. Bill Barber
