Yes, I know all about that.  One of my best long-time friends was 
a Navy pilot, and he said he loved flying off carriers, 
particularly enjoyed landing at night and/or in rough weather.  He 
told many other lies, too, even when he wasn't drinking.  I recall 
his standard announcement when undertaking any task that required 
even minimal skill, like playing pinball or tuning up his old XKE, 
was, "Well, of course I can do this.  I'm a fighter pilot."  
Today, he flies packages for Fed-X, but his bravado hasn't 
diminished one bit.
