The Paterson system has its advantages, but it uses more chemical than the
stainless steel (Nikor, Kinderman, et al) tanks. 10.5 oz vs. 8 oz, IIRC.
Thus, mixing smaller batches is somewhat more of a chore, since most
instructions for mixing are based on 8oz batches; this was bothersome to me.
Once I got the nack of loading the ss reels (not difficult), life became much
easier for me. Nor is the Paterson reel foolproof when it comes to film being
loaded properly.
