Well, I've read all this and several replies with various complex and/or
expensive solutions, most of which add equipment and weight. It all
sounds like a lot more PITA, and PITpocketbook, and PITshoulder, etc.
than just rotating the lens in the mount. I would not, of course
recommend that choice if it weren't what I do myself.
The other brand lenses with rotating tripod mounts make it more
convenient to line up by putting a marker dot on the mount and matching
marks at 90 degree points on the lens body (or visa versa). I don't know
why Oly didn't do this, but if you need them, make your own marks. White
dry transfer lettering would be one pro looking and easily removable
solution. I'm sure others will occur to the fertile minds of the list.
The red dot on the lens mount for aligning it when mounting is already
there, so only the tripod mount need have marks.
