There are tutorial/Q&As for these repair/maintenance needs at
<http://olympus.dementia.org/Hardware/>.

"Removing the OM-1/OM-2 Top Cover" gets you inside with the prism.
"Removing the Foam Around the Prism of an OM-1/OM-2" shows how to clean
up the old foam. The thing it doesn't tell you is that new prisms
haven't been available for years, BUT, prisms from the OM-10 and OM-20
(OM-G) are the same part and those cameras didn't have foam, so the
prisms are generally like new. Really THROUGHLY cleaned prisms are
perfectly usable, one can hardly tell, but for the perfectionist, a
non-functioning, 'parts' OM-10/20 can finish the job.

Remember that neither the prism nor the focusing screen has any effect
on the actual picture taken, just your view for framing and focusing it.
The focusing screens are really rather delicate, being rather soft
plastic. In Particular, the flat surface with the tiny fresnel prisms
and focusing prisms are easily damaged and should basically not be
touched if it can be avoided. The Q&A "How do you clean a focusing
screen? " presents the technique of a very experienced expert OM
repairman. Pretty much anything normal can be removed with compressed
air, dust-off, etc. If you are not good with small, delicate things,
consider leaving anything that the air and/or feather techniques won't
remove alone, rather than risk making things worse. Just remember it
doesn't affect the picture.
