Gord,

The Pelican cases are very heavy and awkward. I use mine when taking camera
gear in the river boat if we will be in a lot of white water stuff. Jet
boats in rough water pound the hell out of everything in them. I sometimes
take one in the Jeep if we will be on a very dusty road or if the weather is
bad and I've got the top off. I've never had a Billingham bag but the guys
on the list who use them have nothing but good things to say about them. The
Billinghams and Domkes last forever and gear can be accessed quickly from
them. When I'm walking or skiing I usually have a backpack and carry some
gear in there and some in a chest pack that is suspended from the shoulder
straps of the main pack. The camera can be retrieved quickly from the chest
pack for snap shooting. Carrying a bag on the side is OK for walking
sometimes but not for skiing as it interferes with the poles. As usual for
this list group, the correct answer is to have at least one each of every
type of bag you might ever need. I frequently find that no matter what I
brought I wish I had something else. You are probably on a never-ending
quest.

/jim

Hi Jim:

How's the Viagra-pod doing? I thought I'd hear back from you on the Bogen
warranty reply.
The thread was pretty slow on this one, thanks for your input, I have owned
Pelican in the past, and they are good for everything except taking
pictures, I found that they kept my gear very safe, mostly in my home as I
hated carrying them around. I think that I have given up on the backpack
idea, as I have a good backpack that I wear skiing and I use a Low*Pro
digital carry bag that I bought for my Can*n G1 and put any extra lenses in
their OM cases and toss them in the backpack.

Thanks Gord
