Not true, the game (and endless, repeating, worthless pre-pre-game,
pre-game, and post-game Survivor BS) were broadcast on CBS, which I receive
fuzzily with 'rabbit ears' since I can't afford the 327-channels of
-important- TV quality available here from the local cable company. I
watched part of the first quarter, thought the game was going to be a 0-0
tie defensive battle; wandered off, came back late in the third quarter and
sat through the last part. Sadly (or maybe not-so-sadly) I missed all the
unforgettable excitement (I almost typed excretement...) of the half-time
show. Woe is me...

A local sports columnist has an interesting column on how all the 'official'
expressions of "Shocking, shocked surprise" should be viewed as slimy and
worthless posturing in light of the endless quest for the lowest common
denominator in public taste (accompanied by the highest possible dollars out
of the public's pockets) from the CBS, MTV, and the NFL. His point, and I'm
inclined to agree, is that this was a pre-meditated stunt intended to fuel
ratings and 'pop' the hype a little higher... as if it wasn't already a
cesspool of worthless hype wrapped around a football game anyway...
