This is from the FAQ and has a link to a picture of the two different
shutter curtain patterns. I have my fathers first OM-2 here today and it has
the earlier first curtain in it. The method described by Chuck is the best
way to determine the curtain you have.

Didn't someone already suggest firing the camera after removing the 
batteries?  That will interrupt the exposure cycle after lifting the 
mirror and exposing the shutter curtain.  At that point you can examine 
the curtain's black and white speckled metering pattern.

If it's center weighted there will be more white speckles toward the 
center of the curtain.  If it's an averaging pattern they will be evenly 
distributed across the entire curtain.

Replace the batteries to allow the camera to complete the exposure cycle.
