I agree that the site is populated by a lot of people who do not know
much about photography. I saw a thread yesterday asking, "What are F
stops?" The argument can be made that they just don't know how to use
the camera. However there is no reason think that the people on the
Canon forums and, say, the Nikon forums are any different. Some time
ago I did identical searches on the two for focusing problems and got
20 or 25 pages of hits for the 10D which had been around a few months
and about half a page for the D100 which had been around more than a
year and a half. So I think that the problem is real. Which is not to
say that Canon will not fix it if you get a malfunctioning one and take
it to them. But there is also feedback that taking it to Canon did not
help some people. There is some feedback that the problem varies with
the lens used and some are concluding that it may be a lens problem not
a camera problem.
