No, the bindings didn't release and they didn't need to as there was very
little twisting or bending force applied to my legs. I keep the bindings
quite loose and the skis never come off if I'm skiing correctly. Modern
bindings have so much elasticity that they only need to be set on the higher
settings if you are racing or doing a lot of aerial stuff. Dalbello makes
good boots and they are the only maker that has/had a canting foot bed.
Unfortunately that canting foot bed is prone to breakage and may have been
discontinued. I gave up and went back to putting corrective cant plates
under the bindings. My main downhill boots are now Rossignal Race 1 Pro and
they are excellent but are hard to get on. Once on though, they are very
comfortable. I also have a pair of Rossignal Soft 1 boots that are actually
less comfortable but are good for standing for extended times, like watching
racing or doing photography. I'm almost 65 but some mornings feel more like
80. I've got friends that are 80 and still skiing though. Skiing makes me
feel good. My knees are better when skiing and my back doesn't hurt then
either. It's very therapeutic. Being around the young kids doesn't hurt
either as it's good to see them having so much fun. Here's a picture of my
racing buddy. /jim

Hi Jim:

I just said 80 was old, not really old. That must have been some bump, did
the bindings not release? If they didn't you better tell the tech that you
are over 50 when they reset the bindings. I have never seen boots break. My
hot tip for you is an Italian boot called Dalbello www.dalbellosports.com I
have the CRX series and thay are a great boot.
