For me, the big question with programs like this is the quality of the 
interpolation algorithms.  Mediocre algorithms will correct the perspective 
distortion, but introduce interpolation artifacts.

I've never seen any studies on the quality of various tools for this purpose, 
although the author of Panorama Tools did have an article on general 
interpolation algorithms and samples of various types on his site at one time.
