I see you have had a couple of replies, but nobody pointed you to the 
eSIF page on the subject

to be clear, it happens that the switch in styling from silver nose to 
black nose roughly coincided in time with the optical switch to 
multi-coating. The discussion under point b. is a much more accurate 
description of which lenses are MC.
