One step up from the T-18 might be the Vivitar 550-FD (which I wrongly
labeled 555-FD in my previous message). The 550-FD weighs 6.5 oz empty
(about 50% more than the T-18) and is a bit bigger all around but still
fits in an ample pocket when its tilt head is pointed straight up. It
takes 4 AA's and has a guide number of 80 feet/ 24 meters vs the T-18's
18 meters. It also happens to be TTL dedicated for Olympus, Minolta and
Pentax without any extra adapters... it just has a lot of contact pins
on the bottom of the shoe. You should be able to buy one in very good
condition for USD 15-20. I have two of them, one of which appears to be
NIB, but I am not selling.
