Walt, I do use exact ratios to shoot with flash in manual mode, but not yet 
with 65-116.  I've done it with T28 flashes and 90/2 and OM-1, for example 
(1:4 is f11, 1:2 is f16 at 1/4 power with ASA100, etc.). I want to work 
this out with the tube and 135/4 or my 38/3.5 someday.  I have the old 
version, so it's going to be tough with the 38/3.5.  But with the 38/3.5 
I'd probably use T10 or T8 flash, so I'm not sure I'd be able to do better 
than the TTL smarts of the camera.

But with existing light I don't pay any attention to the markings, which is
