Yes I have heard that with digital there isnt much of a degree to
compensate...I think its like a couple of stops at most. Much like slide
film (dont quote me on this). Certainly tho you are right...with digital you
can manipulate the image with software and make-up for that lack of
compensation. Negative film gives you a lot more "play"...so even if you
make a mistake...your shot might still come out ok.

I don't know what you mean by that. Are you saying there's not much latitude
in taking your shot? That it's difficult to compensate? If so, I'd have to
disagree. I see the same control over the image I'm taking with regard to
film
SLR and digital SLR. maybe a digital P&S doesn't give you much control, but
the
BIG advantage digital has, is you can correct the image with software after
you take it to get just about whatever improvement you think it needs. With
a
slide, you're stuck with whatever exposure choice you made at the time of
taking
the shot. Unless you scan the slide and try to improve it digitally.
