It's the remaining 10% that can get you in trouble, though.

With film technology, the film usually exceeds the capability of
the lenses and photographer. You can always improve technique or
skill to get that little bit extra out of the medium, but I
can't say that I've ever been limited by the film. I can either
go down in film speed or up in film size.

With digital technology, the sensor provides absolute limits. My
photography might be good (and thanks for the compliment), but
on occasion I've got to work hard to defeat the limitations of
the sensor.  Sure, there are lots of software tools and
techniques available to eek out just a bit more, but essentially
there are real, quantifiable limits to digital.

No, but without the continuity, it has to be directly compared
to any other system without emotional attachment.
