That sounds pretty terminal Graham, and certainly beyond economic repair.
Unfortunately, because of the cocktail of rare earth elements in the lgass,
you can't just put it in the domestic rubbish, but since you aren't far
away, I will pop round in the mroning to pick it up for safe disposal.  I
can easily be there before you leave for work...

PS OTOH if you want a recommendation for the Olympus specialist within 50
miles of you who does all the warranty work for Olympus UK, let me know next
time you are flying out of Luton Airport, it isn't far at all!

PPS I have no idea about a fix, but it sure does not sound right.

Advice please. What play, if any, is normal in the internal sleeve of the
lens barrel? That is to say if I were to hold the lens firmly in one hand
should I be able to move the end of the lens by waggling (is that a word)
the part that has the lens hood lugs on it. If there should not be any
movement is there a fix, screws under the grip etc? The lens shows no sign/s
of being whacked.
