Not sure I'd go the thread sealant PTFE tape route.  It's made for threaded
couplings with substantially more slop in them than the threads you're
dealing with on a filter mount.  May not sieze up on you, but you may also
find it near impossible to get it started and/or successfully coupled.

IMHO.
