[OM] Problem with 24/2.8 diaphragm ring

Subject: [OM] Problem with 24/2.8 diaphragm ring

My 24/2.8 (one of my preferred Zuikos) has developed a small problem:
when I turn the diaphragm ring from the smaller (16) to the higher
(2.8) aperture, the ring does not run smoothly, a kind of resistance
can be felt, and a cringing noise is heard when it passes the 4 ->
2.8 mark.

Curiously, no problem at all when I turn the ring in the other
direction. Also, the problem only occurs when the lens is mounted (on
an OM-4Ti), not when it is unmounted. This is the only lens to
display this behaviour.

What could be wrong? The "actuator" lever (which thransmits the
aperture to the camera, I guess) does not appear to be bent or
damaged. The diaphragm closes normally at all apertures (at least
when the lens is unmounted), and the speed indicated in the
viewfinder varies according to the diaphragm selected, whatever the
direction I turn the diaphram ring.
