For OM-1, 2 production date is under the pressure plate. There are three
symbols, first is a Japanese symbol, (the factory name). Then comes the
year, then the month. Month is listed as 1 through 9, the X, Y, Z for month
10, 11, and 12. So 2nd and 3rd figures being 7 Y, body build date (if back
cover had never been switched) reads as November of 1977.

OM-1 chrome serial # and prod. date

164,000 3/73
293,000 10/74
490,000 2/75
613,000 7/75
736,00 3/76
886,000 5/76
1,000,000 11/76
1,100,000 3/77 (NO prism foam starts around here up to 1N production start)
1,300,000 9/77
1,500,000 5/78
1,623,000 11/78 this is approx. serial number where OM-1 production ends
and OM-1N starts. Also, prism foam re-appeares in 1N.
