One thing I forgot to mention, since scanning is my main criteria.
Negative film has latitude, but that in itself makes scanning more
difficult in that I often have to tweak each scan. Slide film has to
be exposed more precisely, but if it is, has more tonal information,
and another contributing factor in easier scanning. Color negative
film with a more compressed tonal range (but lager overall range)
means any scanning deviations will result in more color shift
than the equivalent shift with slide film.

So it is a tradeoff, more precise exposure control for slide film =
best scanning, while exposure latitude in negative film = more
time spent scanning but fewer missed shots.
