Did you try the long exposure in a black bag to check for light leaks?
I think there is an LED that bleeds some light into the sensor to limit
the maximum time. Not sure what could go wrong with that. Moisture
on the circuits is not good. You could try letting the camera sit in a
dry box for a day. If not a light leak, a CLA is probably in order.
