It is my feeling that it isn't going to be easy to find ANY vehicle nowadays 
( except maybe a Hummer) that'll have strong enough luggage racks, and a thick 
enough roof structure to handle the weight that's added to said racks. All 
the racks I've had in recent years visibly flex even when you stay within the 
recommended weight limits. I'd also think that the combined weight of the wood, 
hardware, and any safety rails that you should have to prevent you from 
inadvertently stepping off, and the weight of the camera gear and the 
photographer 
would put you over what weight would be safe to avoid damage to the roof.
