Greetings All,
And what a sight it was! The weather here in South Carolina
cooperated though it was dicey for a while with heavy clouds on the eastern
horizon just before sunup. Venus was clearly visible through my photographic
combination of OM-4Ti with 500mm f8 lens and Tokina 2x teleconverter. In
retrospect I wish I had used a faster speed slide film instead of Fuji 100.
The view through my friend's 8" Meade was awesome. I will definitely
photograph through it in 2012. Should have my slides back this afternoon.

Hi, all.

Here are my first pics of the Transit of Venus. The day was cloudy, but I
was fortunate enough to get the sun thru some clear patches on the sky...

<http://cjss.sytes.net/etc/transito/> is the folder with the uncropped,
downsized (640x427) pics. A few notes about the filenames: numbers are the
local time (GMT +0200), the 'L' stands for *Levels adjustment* and 'NF'
means *No filter*.

These pics were taken with the EOS-300D, F.Zuiko 300mm F4.5, Kiron 1.5x,
Vivitar 2x Macro and a home-made solar filter (a 120-roll strip of Pan-F
plus, developed on DD-X (1+4) 15 min. @ 25 celsius).

I took also some pics on film (OM-2S, F.Zuiko 200mm F5, Kiron 2x MC7, Kodak
Technical Pan) thru a somewhat less dense filter (10 min. development of
the Pan-F plus strip), but this film is still to be finished and developed.
