I am not an expert at this, but most factory racks have minimal static load 
bearing capacity.  I recently bought a CR-V (I bought the most fuel efficient 
yet reliable pocket SUV I could, so no flames... I need the AWD capability and 
the Forrester was not an option for me) and eschewed the factory rack and went 
for Yakima.  For LESS money I got 250% more load capacity, and more 
functionality, as it includes the boatloader extension bar.  That being said, 
it still only rated for 125lbs/57kg (which is more than enough for me.  So, I 
think you'll need to rig something custom if you're thinking rack.  I would 
think a platform directly attached to the roof would be the way to go.
