It'll be such a shame to get a scratch on that brand new truck.

Hmmm, haven't even made the first payment but I guess it has to happen
sometime. It is one of those city pretty Chevrolet Z-71 Suburban. Silver so I
can
hide beside a lake.
My wife bought me a portable air-compresser for Father's Day.
Hmmm, I have birthday coming up in August and she has already sprung for a
weekend workshop with Julia Cameron. She sometimes thinks I'm full of hot air
(I think that is what it is), but a portable air compressor sounds like a great
idea and it is one of those landmark birthdays. Maybe . . .
A 4WD truck will have enough clearance for all the
vitals. You might bang on the frame in one or two spots, but
we're talking pretty minor stuff.
This is not music to the ears of someone who only had one door ding in his 2
wheel drive Suburban that was traded in with 207,000+ miles on it.
The mountain slopes on one side are quite "robust" and mountain critters are
abundant.
That makes the trip sound worth it.

Would I hesitate to take a brand new vehicle on this trail?
Nah.
Perhaps, I can get past my compulsive behavior. This may be why the universe
sent me this Suburban. Are those tears forming in my eyes?

When in doubt, get out and walk the section first to know where you want to
place the tires.

I'm sure the images will be worth it. This is sure a lot more difficult than
Houston traffic.

Two nights stay at the dunes is highly recommended.

We won't be camping but rather our staying in a nice little Bed & Breakfast
in Almarosa. we are staying two night there.

If you are so inclined, at night, pop back to the entrance and
try some night shots of the dunes.

I will do that.

Have you paid your TNC dues lately?

TNC? Is that The Nature Conservancy? No, however wouldn't be opposed to
joining. Is there a benefit as it relates to the Sand Dunes National
Monument/Park?

Did I mention that in addition to my camera gear for my workshop, and luggage
for two people, I'll have a baby bed, changing table, rocking chair and
ottoman, chest of drawers and a few boxes of baby stuff in the back of the
Suburban
at this point in my journey? Yes, it will be stacked to the top of the truck.

Perhaps, I'd best save my 4 wheeling for Ouray and Canyon Lands NP when most
of this stuff along with my bride will have been deposited at our daughters
house in Golden. But then what is it they say? No guts, no glory.
