Hi Siddig:

In 1867 on July 1, Canada became a nation as part of the Commonwealth,
Newfoundland joined in 1949.

France was defeated on the plains of Abraham in 1759, they tried the next
year to retake Quebec City, were defeated retreating to Montreal, which also
was captured later that year ending France's direct involvement. The Seven
Year War was between England and France and took place well before Canada
became a nation.
