Well I'm in need of your collective knowledge and expert opinions again.
My OM-2 began failing to shutter at needle indicated speed on Auto mode
only. When turning lever to Manual, needle indicates same exposure as in
Auto and does fire at correct shutter speed [1 sec. is 1 sec. and 1/1000 is
1/1000 according to John's recent advice regarding proper use for a TV set
:-)]
On Auto, sspeed varies erratically: say it indicates 1/8 and it may shutter
at 1/8 (most frequently) or at 3 sec. Always at a lower speed than
indicated, and noticeably lower. Of course, batteries are fresh and there is
a piece of undeveloped film inside. Another detail I observed is that when
failing and giving exposures of several seconds, I point to a strong light
source but it seems to ignore it, remaining open or closing at random.
Could it be that Auto circuitry is damaged and needs replacement ?
Or something less critical ?
