with digital, I go ahead and take the picture and edit later.

Why? Do you have less control of yourself for some reason when using an E-1?
 ;-)

I've been using an E-1 for several months and my occasional returns to my
(still cherished) OM gear are growing less frequent as I find that my work is
improving with my ability to see and learn from my mistakes right away. My
shooting is essentially the same with an E-1 as with film because I feel
compelled
to achieve my desired results completely in the camera with a minimum of post
processing -- preferrably none. My problem with film has always been that I'm
too lazy to keep notes while I shoot ( I also find that note taking too much
of an intruson into the creative process) and, therefore, by the time I get the
slides back, I've often forgetten how (and sometimes why) I took a particular
shot. This makes it difficult to learn from my mistakes.

I certainly agree with you and Jeff that the seeing the result can be like
opening a present. I don't think I really see my results until I get them onto
my computer, where I can see the full resolution, dynamic range, and color.
That's when I feel the 'receiving a present' sensation.

I believe the E-1 is making me a better photographer.
