And mine is that it doesn't matter. In the end, you can argue all you
want about specs, but it isn't always measured horsepower that crosses
the line first.

Indeed, indeed. Results are what counts.

I've had pleased reactions from viewers to those few pictures I've
printed from the 6mp DSLR so far. I have a ways to go in learning how
best to use it from my own perspective, but am pleased with some of what
I have done. I think there are things that digital can do better than
film and some that film can do better.

But then, I'm one who has been pleased with many pics from my little old
2.1mp S110. Three 8x10s from it are hanging in the dining room. I think
this, for example, is a very fine image; prints up nicely too
<http://galleries.moosemystic.net/Glads/pages/10-1053.htm>. Funny thing
is, it was seriously underexposed becaue I forgot to return exposure
comp back to -1/3, my default setting, when I last used the camera and
it doesn't show that without checking. Fortunately, what makes it is the
subtle shadings of white, which were all there, and the darker tones
didn't matter if they went black. In fact, I coudl see myself doing
something similar on purpose in some circumstances. I try to learn from
my "mistakes".

Of course part of the learning curve has nothing to with digital at all,
but learning to use AF effectively. Although I'm doing a fair amount of
shooting with OM mount MF lenses, I'm also learning how to use AF to get
what I want in focus, rather than what it may choose without intervention.

Next thing is to find out why the printer is putting black smears on the
bottom of some prints before I waste any more paper and ink. Bah!
