Hi Simon:

The shadow/highlight buttons are about 2 stops adjusted, so you have to pick
the right spot you don't aim those at grey at all. The multi spot metering
is a great function too, allowing you to scale your shot.

I see your point about reflected light but that is what the film picks up
too, incident light is helpful, until you have the bride in white in a dark
setting. I sold my Light meter in 1986, after a few months of using my OM 4,
and lets not forget about  flash, that was one of the other reasons I
switched to OM..
