I also had the same problem recently with my MD-2/M.15V battery pack on single
shot mode. I too assumed that the problem lay in the selector switch and
prepared to send it for a service. However, during inspection and testing I
noticed that when the control pack was pressed firmly against the bottom of the
MD, it fired normally in single shot mode. This led me to believe that not all
of the electrical contacts on the battery pack were properly contacting the
corresponding ones on the bottom of the MD. Eventually, I found that by
slightly (and carefully) bending the small spring clips on the control pack
contact plate, which hold it in position against the MD contact plate, so that
it can get a better grip on the latter, the whole thing functioned normally
without the need to apply pressure to squeeze the two together.
Probably worth a try before you take the thing apart.
