We have quite a few people moving to Eastern Idaho from California and other
urban areas. They are building some very nice homes. Most are coming here to
retire. Those that come here expecting to find high-paying jobs are usually
disappointed. A lady friend of mine managed the construction and decoration
of a three-million dollar house at Swan Valley for a developer from Florida.
He told her that the place would have cost him 15 million to build it in
Florida. I turned down a photography job for him. He needed his black labs
photographed with his grandkids but I had a broken shoulder at the time and
couldn't do it. He and his wife are both very nice people, in spite of being
very wealthy. I'll have to post a picture of that shack as it's very nice.

People do that here to get by the code and zoning restrictions. They
tear everything down but the last stone and call it a remodel. Average
housing values here are nearly 300k and climbing. I can foresee being
driven out by the property taxes at some point in the future. Then I'd
have to move to Idaho where I'd probably be as popular as the
Californians are around here ;>) Truthfully though the CA influx has
pretty much dried up as their market tanked and ours has caught up and
passed it. I have friends shopping for bargains in northern CA.
