I would be perfectly happy with that. At this point I spend more time
looking for OM-related information than actually reading it.

Well, of course not. And I'm certainly not complaining about OM-related
stuff that has no connection with my life, such as flashes. First, it is
OM-related, and that is what I signed up for, and second, it may be of
use to me one day should I ever decide to use a flash.

That's good that all that information is in the archives. I know it was
certainly quite useful to me when I stumbled upon it. I don't see any
reason to rehash it on the list time and time again, though; if someone
asks, just point them at the archived messages. Or perhaps, even better,
someone wants to write up a summary of the information and post it on a
web page somewhere. And we could add the URL to the FAQ.

After reading that, if someone still has questions about batteries (or
whatever), discussion on the list is fair game.

Not on all lists. I know of many where, despite a bit of socializing
and what-not now and then, the vast majority of posts are on-topic, and
thus, what everybody signed up for.

Not that I dislike you guys or anything, but if this is an "old friends
who happen to use Olympus cameras" list, please describe it as that, not
as a list for people who are interested in Olympus cameras.
