I don't know...I don't think that's that's a fair statement unless 
you know that for a fact.

I'm glad to hear you got everything squared away, but what I get from 
you story is 1) your E-1 shouldn't have developed such a problem in 
the first place, 2) they shouldn't have had to put an APB out to find 
your camera , else it would have ended up in a "black hole", and 3) 
it would have come back working correctly. It's "issues" as you 
describe that are the same reasons that pros abandoned Oly in the 
70's, and it appears, still persist at Oly.
