That is one of the many independent lenses I tested. Have you seen the

In terms of mechanics, be sure the mount is solidly seated and there are
no problems with diaphragm operation. Those were the Achilles Heel of
this design, along with sometimes not being able to infinity focus.
Adjusting the focus is a bear and many repairmen won't touch it. You
would be better off mechanically with the Kiron version, especially the
Zoomlock variant. Optically there are identical, as expected, since
Vivitar doesn't/didn't have a manufacting plant.
