Thanks for showing us those Mike. These photos are the sort that I
like to take on the beach as the shapes and colours are almost always
interesting – you're lucky to be close to a beach. I have the following
general comments if you will indulge me ;-):

1. The contrast could be improved slightly by using Levels. by moving
the input sliders towards the end values of your images you will
increase the contrast. It might also go a little dark, but you can
correct this by moving the middle slider left a little. Seaweed6 went
a little too dark when I adjusted the levels, but the first 3 improved
nicely.

2. You nearly always have the point of interest in the centre; if I
have no other influence on my composition I consciously move it to the
intersection of thirds. As a general rule it works most of the time
for me.

3. Tracks is spoiled rather by the colour of the sand and by the
indentations or "blemishes" that distract the viewer from your
composition of the tracks leading out of the picture.

4. I am not sure that it made any difference to yours, but I think that
it is normally best to sharpen your images after you have sized them
for whatever purpose.

5. Finally, if you can scan slides, I find that Provia gives an
excellent balance of saturation and sharpness to beach photos.

I hope that these are useful.
