" I finally bought a film scanner. I'm still learning but I'm really enjoying
it. Always 5 steps back technology-wise due to financial reasons, a film
scanner is a revelation to me. I have reasonable digital resolution (that I
could not presently afford if I was purchasing a new digicam) and am still
utilizing my Olympus investment. It is a mere 2700 sprintscan plus, but it is
opening new vistas to me. It has given me the opportunity to stretch my
horizons without straining my budget. I am revisiting old pictures that were
improperly printed to begin with and digitally reprinting them the way I
actually envisioned them.Slides are a revelation unto themselves."

I agree; a little while ago I acquired an old HP Photosmart film scanner and
am rapt with the results. Last week I scanned one colour neg at 2400 dpi,
and after a little sharpening in Adobe Photo Deluxe and tweaking colours and
light levels, tried the largest print I have ever had done. A 12 x18 inch print
from a 5.7 MB jpeg.

The result is so amazing I am considering trying the next size up print. Tack
sharp, wall to wall, from a Zuiko 35-70/2.6 at about 70mm.
