IRRC there are a couple screws that can adjust the friction. It was
discussed two(?) years ago. Sorry I've never tried it so I can't remember
the details.

Slide the lens to each extreme and a screw can be found - not sure if these
are the right screws but it would be easy to try to tighten them.
