I think you are right. I don't really mind either. When I have tried to 
focus manually with the ground glass screen to prove I could, it could 
be a bit of a challenge depending on the focal length/subject 
matter/focus distance. However about the only time I would need to 
touch the manual focus would maybe to touch up a close focus shot and 
those are easy on the ground glass.
