Yup, I vote with the other users of Bogen geared heads. I have the 410. 
It's just about the perfect head for precision adjustment with quick 
adjustment to rough location and micrometer fine and smooooth, no-lash 
adjustment to exactly where you want. The only drawback I can see is the 
odd QR plate, which is a minor weirdness/inconvenience.

There have been a lot of great, informative posts about ball heads, but 
I'm convinced a geared head is the answer for accurate positioning for 
macro, architecture, rtc.. I never knew about theses things before I 
heard about them on this list. Now I wonder how I got along without it.

As you mention later, the 475B is the successor model to the 3236 and at 
least the leg locks look different. Doesn't matter to me. My 3236 will 
long outlast me.
