It's always interesting that other countries are credited with perverting
the English language but I notice that the English also do it quite well. My
friends from Newcastle speak Geordie which is very difficult to understand,
especially when they talk fast and are full off booze, which is most of the
time. They do enjoy life, even if they talk funny. I used to have a photo a
friend took in London. The sign in the shop window states; "We speak
American." The French seem to be more concerned about language purity than
anyone else I know of. I think language is fun in all of it's many
perversions.

Hi James,

Much is made in the UK about the way our language gets modified/adulterated
call it what you will. The critics cite America as the evil influence. I
read a lot of emails and chat regularly to many Americans on IRC L*ica and I
hear much, by way of expressions, that amuses and impresses me.

Just to let you know that I will be adopting 'ration of crap' with immediate
effect and will do my best dovetail it into common usage. I doubt that it
will ever be heard during the BBC news but the English spoken there is
almost as far from the language I speak as the English spoken in the Bronx.
Go figure :-)
