It's possible the e*ay seller will offer a bit of my money back on the
35-70/3.6 that I paid $160 for. The cosmetic condition of the lens and
case are nearly mint while the hood has a bit of wear on the metal
ring. In any case, none of that is all that important to me. The
optics look free of fungus with what I would call a normal amount of
internal dust for something probably 20 years old (serial # 215875).
There is a scratch on the front element about half way between the
center and the edge that runs intermittently the width of the
element... probably about 3/8" total scratch. It is light and barely
noticable (actually I have a difficult time finding it) holding the
lens in normal light but shows up when looking at an incandescent bulb
through the lens from the back side. Under the same lighting
conditions, a small scratch can be seen on an inner optic... as I
rotate the lens this internal scratch will appear and then disappear.

I wouldn't have bid on the item if I knew it was scratched though I am
growing weary trying to find a 3.6 in excellent optical condition...
this is my 3rd attempt. How much would any of you have paid for this
item if you knew it was scratched? I have a feeling quite a few pros
shoot with scratched lenses and this obsession I have with perfection
might be a bit overboard. Any advice would be appreciated.

Richard
