Thanks for the Ritz information, Charles. They were selling them for a 
premium when I was looking. I ended up getting a Coolpix 5200 which is 
better for slipping into my pocket.

The adaptors for cameras with telescoping lenses screw solidly into the 
threads around the lens in the body of the camera, not to the lens. No 
disaster at all. The lens zooms inside the tube. That is the way a 5700 
works. And there are tons of attachments for the adaptor tube.
