Thanks for the suggestions. Well, I didn't enter earlier 50mm F2 macro
threads because others expressed my feelings on this lens. My 50mm f1.4 has
not left the house since I viewed my first chromes with the macro. If I
only take on lens, the macro is it. As said before, it is a great normal
lens with adequate macro performance. The bokeh can be beautiful and the
shallow DOF can really isolate a subject. The 28mm is second "one lens"
choice. Fast, wide, good CF and minimal distortion. I prefer this lens if
I am concerned about distortion. How could I not take the 21mm f3.5! Not
the fastest, but there is something about the color and resolution I love.
Ultimately, I love wide angle lens and question whether I would want
anything beyond 85mm tele in the city.
Somewhere on the web I saw a grip (I think it was made for a leica) that had
a lens mount on the bottom to carry an extra lens. I thought it was a cool
idea. The contacts on my MD-1 fried last month and I was thinking of
gutting the MD-1 and somehow attaching a manual extension tube to the bottom
to carry an extra lens. Any suggestions on securing the manual tube to the
bottom of the drive?

not been to japan, but if it is a big crowded city, you'd do best with a
wide and a mid tele, faster preferred. So in your case, the 28/2 is good,
as is the 18. also the 85. i took everything I had to london, and first
day lugged it all around. next two days, shot 28 exlusively. depends on
your view of things, but at the most 2 bodies, a lens on each, and lots of
film. leave everything but your creativity at home.
