You might be interested in a rather good tutorial system on 
www.marrutt.com.  I have bought a year's subscription for the whole 
site, but individual CDs with video tutorials are reasonable.  Best of 
all, you can try the first three lessons free, gratis and ... for 
nothing ;-)

Whether you buy Elements 3 or stick with v.2, these tutorials are quite 
a help.  I bought PS CS, as an upgrade from PS7 which I bought 
secondhand, so that I could edit in 16-bit mode and to use the built-in 
JP2K.  The 16-bit mode is excellent, but the JP2K implementation is 
pretty useless for large files as it take so long to get through the 
initial setting up.
