I usually use the "ghastly" forms when buying/selling - It had never
occurred to me before reading this post that anyone could take exception to
them - just part of the process. Maybe I'll think twice before using them in
future... (but probably not)

It's an important ingredient, communication. I am selling a lens to a
chap in Wales (he's been buying a lot of newish OM stuff) who has
communicated only through the ghastly forms. It is difficult to
establish any sort of rapport in a transaction with such a chap.
