Thanks for the link. A very thoughtful, balanced and useful review. I
can see why the kind of pros he mentions would like the E-1. It also
reconfirms my choice not to get an E-1, because my photographic
needs/desires are different than theirs in just the directions where the
E-1's weakness outweigh its strengths.

As I've said before, one of my loves is long lenses. Yet I want a kit I
can carry around easily, which means moderate lens speed and a dislike
for IS lenses for weight reasons. Low noise at high isos is like weight
free IS in effect. Sean Reid is the first reviewer I've noticed
mentioning the effective iso difference between the E-1 and Can*n DSLRs.
It's clear in the dpreivew tests, where the noise tests against the 10D
are all at the same speeds and f-stop. Starting at iso 400 and really
becoming obvious at 800 and above, the E-1 test images are quite a bit
darker. The review briefly notes the difference, but doesn't quantify it
as Reid does. It's clear that at the isos I need for long tele, the
10D/300D have at least a 2 stop advantage over the E-1 and the 20D even
improves on that, despite more mps. That's just like losing weight and
getting free money to me.

I'm still hoping Oly will pull an 8+ mp body with low noise at high isos
out of their hat. But waiting is hard and that Tokina 12-24 lens is
singing its siren song. A two lens kit to cover 19-480mm eq. !!
